Mother & Father – A Poem by Gizelle Riley

Parents mess you up no matter what

Both the ‘good’ and the ‘bad’

We blame them for our lack

Only after many years, it is discovered…

That we ourselves have to fill the gaps

We try to be perfect…yet end up making some of their mistakes

We grew up thinking they were perfect…

Realize that they’re only human before it’s too late
